WATER PLAY DAY CANCELLED!

UNFORTUNATELY, Water Play Day must be CANCELLED!

It had been planned for tomorrow - Tuesday, June 24th.

#1 reason:

A big metal construction fence is blocking off the yard - which is normally our play area and where the tap is located & needed for our sprinkler.

#2 reason:
A thunder storm and pouring rain, means horrible weather will be arriving!

                Sorry everybody!

AFTERNOON SKs' FIELD TRIP!

The SK's will have a fun, fitness field trip at:

 STARR GYMNASTICS  on
    Friday, JUNE 20

Students will be developing or enhancing their balance and coordination skills, as well as strengthening both large and small muscle groups.

We will depart from the school at 12:40 and return by 2:40.

There is no need for volunteers on this field trip as the children will have several trained coaches supervising them plus 4 teachers.

Due to the nature of our field trip we kindly request that girls wear shorts or pants (no dresses /skirts) and please tie back hair.  All children should wear comfortable clothing that allows them to move freely.

Please remember that children will participate in gymnastic activities in their bare feet.

Please pack a small snack.
We will be eating while we are there.

Please sign and return the permission slip  as soon as possible

RECESS TIME for SENIOR KINDERGARTEN!

Our afternoon Senior Kindergarten students enjoyed their very first "Recess time" today!

Recess is between 1:25 and 1:40 pm each day.

We almost had to have "indoor recess" due to inclement weather conditions but at the last moment, the rain stopped and we were able to go outside! (Hooray!)  We do want parents to be aware that we may be outside if it is only a light rain so please always have your child dressed appropriately for the weather conditions.

Naturally, we encourage the use of sunscreen, hats and running shoes or boots.  If children wear summer sandals, please ensure that they have a back-strap to keep them on while running or climbing.

(We discourage beach flip-flops due to injuries we have witnessed in the past.)

TOYS:
In regards to toys that may be brought to school; we encourage toys that are explicitly meant for fun and fitness outside!  Appropriate toys should get your child MOVING - running, skipping, building large and small muscles, as well as enhancing their coordination, and balance skills. Good examples would be a wide variety of balls, a frisbee, or skipping ropes.

Please do not permit your child to bring toys that limit movement or encourage sitting, such as a book, a DS, Pokemon cards, or stuffed animals.

*Remember too that this is a time to socialize with friends and practice those "conflict resolution" skills.*
