WINTER PLAY DAY!! HOORAY!!

TUESDAY FEB. 24
Weather permitting, we will be having a winter play day on Tuesday. The Kindergarten classes (along with students in Grades 1-3) will enjoy an afternoon of snow games.

Grade 4 students will be our leaders by running the stations and assisting younger students.

In order to be adequately prepared for an extended time outside in the cold, please send your child dressed in warm winter clothing.
*** Children should also bring extra socks and mittens.***

We are looking forward to this wonderful afternoon.
Hopefully the weather will agree with our plans!

LEARNING ABOUT LENT

This week we participated in our Ash Wednesday liturgy.

Students received ashes and we discussed what Lent

means.

Each student has coloured their own "Alleluia"

banner and we have put them away

until Easter.  We discussed how Lent is

a time of sacrifice and is one way that

we try to draw ourselves closer to Jesus

Over the next 40 days, we will be trying especially hard to be

kind with our words and deeds.

SAD NEWS!

GOOD-BYE MRS. DAMIANO!!

We are very sad to report that Mrs. Damiano will be leaving Holy Redeemer School.

Mrs. Damiano is the ECE teacher in room 102 with "Red Group" but she works with all Kindergarten children during outdoor play.

The demands of family have become a greater priority at this point in her life so her last day will be this Friday, Feb. 20.

QUI AIDE MA COMMUNAUTE?

Now that Valentine's Day is over, our French focus for the remainder of February and into March will be on "Community Helpers".  We started on Friday with a visit from a much admired "pompier" = firefighter!  He assigned homework to all students:
1) Find out your family's "meeting point" in case of fire.
2) Check the smoke detectors to ensure they work.

Qui aide ma communauté?
Comment ?    Pourquoi?    Quand?

RETURN Report Card ENVELOPE please!

VALENTINE CARDS please!

Please send in 29 or 30 Valentine cards from your child as soon as possible.

We will be celebrating St.Valentine's Day on Friday.

Remember to only print on the "From" section, with your child's name on each.
                         ~ ~ ~
Please do not address the cards to individual students, as it becomes too lengthy a process to distribute them all.

REQUEST for VALENTINE CARDS

February is the month that we celebrate friendship / l’amitié, caring and love / l’amour + aimer. In addition to the traditional activities that surround the ways we share our love and our feelings with our families and friends (e.g. valentines), your children will be learning that their friendships are based not only on similarities, but on differences as well. These differences are celebrated as gifts from God. We will emphasize the value of each human being, and the idea that friendship requires tolerance, patience and the acceptance of each other’s varied strengths and weaknesses. Throughout the month we will be recognizing the children for their helpfulness and friendly attitudes in our classroom community.

On Friday, February 13th we ask that your child wear red, white, or pink clothing for a valentine celebration and card exchange. Students are invited to bring in their valentines in a labeled bag as soon as possible so that we can distribute them into decorated bags for Valentine’s Day.

*Please include ONLY YOUR CHILD'S NAME on x30 cards. DO NOT address them to individual students.
This allows for simple distribution and ensures that no one is forgotten.

Enjoy the Family Day holiday on February 16th
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, February 18th

Please dress your child in warm clothing EVERY DAY
(Water-proof mittens – instead of gloves - work best & remember to always send their snow pants and replace used clothing from their extra set of emergency clothes.)
