DROP OFF at SCHOOL CAUTION!

THE # 1 RULE at school >> SAFETY! SAFETY! SAFETY!

Dear Parents and Guardians,
Please be aware that in the morning you are responsible for your child until a teacher is on duty in the yard.  Please do not leave your child unattended. Teachers are only on duty at 8:15 until the bell at 8:30 am. Teachers can be identified by their orange/yellow vest.

Please do not assume that any adult in the yard is a teacher. Children are being left without proper supervision because parents have assumed that the adults by the school are teachers.

It is a parent or guardian's responsibility to stay with their child, preferably behind the pylons until the duty teacher is in the yard.

Thank you for your care and consideration in this regard.

PS. The EDP (school daycare) staff are only responsible for the children in their program and are not legally responsible for other children left in the yard with them. The Daycare staff are permitted to be inside the boundary of the schoolyard only with  children registered in the EDP program.

MARCH UPDATE!

We will continue to discuss Community Helpers this month and will also add “Transportation / Les Moyens de Transport” as a focus for our French vocabulary.

We will be exploring such concepts as movement and travel. Included is a focus on classification (land, water, and air). By using classroom manipulatives, we will sort and compare vehicles according to, for example, shape and function.

Language activities for JK's will continue to focus on letter sound & symbol association and making personal connections to stories, while SK activities will include a focus on reading comprehension and questioning. Please also encourage your child’s emergent writing skills by helping them use complete sentences (with a capital at the beginning, spaces between words, and period at the end), and practice high-frequency words.

Math concepts include reviewing shapes, including three-dimensional figures (sphere, cylinder, cube, pyramid, cone, and rectangular prism).  Counting, numeral formation, identification and measurement will be reviewed.  Then mass will be introduced and in Science, we will explore float and sink concepts.

Theme-related FRENCH vocabulary includes:
police officer/ policier           nurse /infirmière            teacher/ enseignant(e)
mail carrier/ facteur              firefighter/ pompier         doctor/medecin
walk/ marcher                       move/ bouger                 swim/ nager
roll / rouler                            fly/ voler                          float/ flotter
boat / bateau       car / voiture         truck  /  camion         airplane  /  avion

Thank you for your ongoing support. Here are IMPORTANT DATES for your calendar:
- MARCH BREAK is March 12 to 20
