On another subject
The outdoor Kindergarten toys must be carried in and out each time we go out to play. This often requires 2 staff members to lift the load in a heavy awkward bin.

We thought it might be easier if each class had a large IKEA reusable bag for a teacher to carry the toys in and out more easily. If you have a spare Ikea bag to donate, we would very much appreciate it.

 Thank you.

Our EARTH is a blessing!

It's Earth day on April 22, but we celebrate our wonderful world all week. Our school is entering the plastic bag grab challenge. The goal is to collect bags and then give them to Walmart to recycle.

We request your help to collect as many bags as possible and send them to school for the challenge. (April 18-24)
Our school could win up to $3000.00 toward environmental projects. So please help us!

Also, please remember to dress for our theme colour days this week: wear blue Monday for clean water,
green Tuesday for trees and clean land, wear white Wednesday for clean air, wear red, yellow or orange Thursday to represent conserving energy, wear blue and green Friday to represent the Earth and Oceans.

Thank you.

WHAT'S A "YAKI"?

Yaki is a "who" and a fun musician who performed for all the
Kindergarten students this morning!

Richard Bourbeau (a.k.a. Yaki), began to write music for his
own children soon after their birth. One song led to another, and
soon he began performing these songs at his children's day care,
and then their primary schools.

His songs are funny and educational. He plays for any size group, up to 700. He has been performing his music for       the last 15 years and has performed at over 175 schools
in the Capital region.

Yaki is entertaining and fun for young and old alike!
The "Yaki bonusis he does not charge any fee, but
will accept donations to cover some of his costs. We donated $25/ per class for a wonderful morning of exhilarating entertainment!  (What a deal!)

SEEKING YOUR PLASTIC BAGS! (NEXT WEEK)

Next week is Earth week. Along with theme days, our school is entering the plastic bag grab challenge. The goal is to collect as many plastic bags and then give them to Walmart to recycle.

We ask that you collect as many bags as possible but only bring them to school
next week for the challenge. (April 18-24)

This is a great opportunity to discuss the need to stop taking plastic bags from stores and start shopping with reusable bags (and maybe consider buying one from the school that has our logo on it)!

As always, thanks for your support!

APRIL NEWS

Dear Parents,
April brings forth discussions about Spring / Le Printemps, the symbol of new life and renewal. We will focus our attention on seasonal changes, Easter and plants.
Easter is the ultimate celebration for the Christian community and extends beyond the day or weekend celebration. As Spring unfolds, life overcomes death, as reflected in all plant and animal life. Spring is so inviting for children to observe, explore and celebrate the signs of new life that are all around. In Science, we will examine life cycles (e.g. plant, butterfly, frog) and investigate how to distinguish between living and non-living things.  We will also be experimenting with the concept of buoyancy at the water centre.

FRENCH vocabulary includes:
Spring/ printemps            April/avril             sun/ soleil          rain/ pluie

umbrella/ parapluie        flower/ fleur         egg/ oeuf          bird/ oiseau       nest/nid

butterfly/ papillon          rabbit/ lapin        chick/ poussin        new life/ nouvelle vie

 Easter/ Pâques       God/ Dieu          ladybug/ coccinelle           butterfly/ papillon

Please continue to reinforce that all personal toys stay at home. Thanks for your help in this regard.
